Whew, rad fans.
Whatever’s cracking, we hope you’re hydrated.
For the record, we’re technically done with what calendar-nerds call the summer dog days—those fry an egg on your car hood afternoons that Skuzzer the poet might describe with favorite Shakespearian sonnet:
“Sometimes too hot the eye of Heaven shines… and liberally doth my belly-button sweat!”
Speaking of sweaty belly buttons, remember back to when we were kids? When summer meant having free time and open range to venture beyond your own neighborhood and stay out good and late?
Plenty of time to crack your knuckles and get in trouble?
Yeah, those were the days…
If you’re like us, those eight to ten weeks before the local neighborhood penitentiaries (ahem…schools) reopened were best spent hitting the beaches, flopping down an inner-tube for a lazy river float, or going bananas on our own backyard dirt track.
Even though we’re older… with Labor Day coming, vacations ending, and lazy schedules filling back up, that sense of freedom ticking away is still palpable.
It’s always bittersweet.
Good thing Radical Rick’s summer shenanigans (with the necessary exceptions of Christmas and ski season) never seemed to end.
Read on for a sneak peak at some Radical Rick gear, a few teasers, and a back-to-school Rad fact!
A Preview
When the weather’s hotter than Death Valley, what’s a radster gonna wear?

Hot off the rumor mill…
Hold on a sec?
Chill tee-shirt… but weren’t there rumblings about a collector’s Radical Rick hardcover? Another bobblehead?
Could a Radical Rick signature bike be next?
While we’re at it, what’s with the story about the missing Radical Rick video game? The feature film that the Radster came close to making?
In the vague words of some menacing governing agency, we at Radical Rick Spitballing can neither confirm, nor deny…
But you know what?
We’ll confirm… even if it means stirring the ol’ rumor mill even more.
Yes, there’s a Radical Rick book collection in the works.
Ditto with the bobblehead… but which character?
Stay tuned.
If you’d like to hear more about that Radical Rick video game or near feature film in this publication, of even offer a rad suggest… let us know in the comments section.
Rad Fact Six:
Butch Cartilage first appeared as a back-to-school bully
Sketchy origins
If you’ve read Radical Rick from the very beginning, (or if you’ve been tagging along with the blog recently), then this will come at no surprise.
While Butch’s reputation as a lunch money extortionist precedes him, fact of the matter is that Radical Rick and MX Mug meet him in a sketchy alley at the end of summer… on their way to the first day of school.
When Butch tries to shake down our hero, but cracks his hand on Radical Rick’s helmet instead, animosity hardens into a sinister, stalkerish vendetta—one that the Rad Squad vaguely recalls later in the series when Butch strikes back:
With that in mind, and even though Butch can’t boast the tenured, salaried, administration-backed wrath of one Miss Wristwack, it’s no wonder that the first day of school puts a chill down every Rad Squad member’s spine.
What say you, Rad fans?
What summer or back-to school memories sizzle in your mind?
What Rad shenanigans were you up to back in the day… or just last weekend?
Let us know on social media or the comment section. Meanwhile, we hope you squeeze some radness out of what’s left of summer!
Until next time.
